The College First program is a new National Guard enlistment option, which makes it possible for you to reach college goals while serving in the Guard.  This option provides qualified high school graduates and graduating seniors, with no prior military service, the opportunity to complete up to two years of full-time college, uninterrupted by deployment, while serving in the Guard.

What do you get with this enlistment option?

• Up to two years of non- deployment following completion of Initial Active Duty Training (Basic & AIT).
• Applicants may still delayed the start of basic training up to 365 days
• Up to a $20,000 Enlistment Bonus
• $20,000 Student Loan Repayment (must have pre-existing loans)
• Basic Educational assistance of $297 per month- Montgomery G.I. Bill Selective Reserve (MGIB - SR)
• Additional Educational assistance of $350 per month - MGIB Kicker (in addition to the MGIB -SR, and is available to those enlisting in a  critical MOS and assigned to a qualified unit)
• 100% College Tuition Assistance, up to $4,500 per year
• The Pride and Respect you receive while serving your country

Qualifications

• Non-Prior Service High School Graduate or High School Senior or GED.
• Score 50% or higher on the ASVAB.  (The ASVAB test score is only good for two years from date of test.)
• Agree to complete IADT (Basic & AIT).  (Split-Training is not authorized.)
• Be accepted to a college or university that is accredited by the Department of Education with in 90 of completing IADT
• Remain a full-time student in good standing for the duration of his or her stabilized period.
• Meet all other applicable criteria as stated in the current ARNG ECM.
